What is the Choctaw Indian origin myth? |
The Choctaw had been traveling across dense forest and rough terrain, carrying on their shoulders the bones of their dead which were beginning to outnumber the living. They came upon a creek where exhausted, they decided to set up camp for the winter.
There are several versions of this story. All of them revolve around the central element of a "sacred hill" from which good fortune and abundant food came.
